2023 Outstanding Recipient

Chenyao Liu

Accepted Schools:

University of Pennsylvania

We are thrilled to spotlight Chenyao Liu, a driven student and visionary organizer, whose leadership in the FRI-sponsored Archaeology 4 Girls initiative contributed to her recent acceptance into the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). This achievement underscores the power of empowering young women to challenge norms and reshape traditionally male-dominated fields like archaeology and anthropology.

Archeology 4 Girls Webinar

Archaeology 4 Girls, supported by the FRI (Future Researchers Initiative), hosted an inspiring panel discussion featuring trailblazing women in academic and public archaeology. The event tackled the perception of these disciplines as rigid and resistant to innovation, while addressing systemic gender imbalances. Panelists shared personal journeys, explored the roots of inequality in the field, and offered actionable strategies to inspire the next generation of girls to drive change.
